It was posted on Ain't It Cool News as their Memorial Day surprise. That's the actual photo from the actual production. I am AMAZED by how accurate that thing is. Holy Crap. They're ACTUALLY doing the Watchmen up right.

Wait, so Watchmen is actually out of development hell? I never thought I'd see the day. I hope they're doing a trilogy or something considering how dense the full work is.

I'm also not entirely sure Watchmen would work as a movie either. I guess I'll just have to wait and see it when it comes out.

As I understand it, it's a single film. And principle photography is done or is wrapping soon. Then they'll move into post-production.

Some cuts are unavoidable. The pirate ship storyline is gone. As are most of the test pieces between the action of the central plotline. I think Dr.Manhattan's backstory has been edited down, too.

Some things that we DO know is that the film is set in the early 80's, when the book is set. That it offers peeks back into the past, including the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's. Also, the costumes that we've seen for the central characters is spot-on with the images from the comics.

Zack Snyder, who also directed 300, is VERY dedicated to bringing the world of Moore's book, to the big screen. So, we'll keep our fingers crossed to wish him good luck to not fuck it up, too badly.

I'm interested, but going to hold a very reserved outlook on this one till it comes out. The elimination of the pirate storyline removal is understandable, as nearly no one would be able to follow it.

However, they'll be hard pressed to keep the Comedian's death, Rorschach's investigation, ensuing chaos, and final confrontation with Ozymandias within an acceptable time frame as well as maintain the quality/density of the original story.
